Moral Foundations for Residents in the monastery
Bhikkhus are to observe the Four Precepts of Purity with due respect.
Novices are to observe the 10 precepts of moral discipline with due respect.
Lay persons (yogis) are to observe the 8 Precepts of moral discipline.
Exemption: A yogi who encounters or develops health issues while in residence will need to obtain the (Abbot) Sayadaw’s permission to observe the 5 precepts, instead of 8 Precepts if the yogi so wishes.
Under present conditions and with its limited resources, the monastery is unable to accommodate female ordained persons (bhikkhunis, Sayalay, mei chi, samaneri etc from any of the Buddhist Traditions).
Food & Drinks
A healthy vegetarian breakfast & lunch menu is provided for and prepared by the monastery’s kitchen.
